Install Segurium
Last updated May 1, 2026
Segurium installs from the WordPress.org plugin directory. Every feature ships in every install — full detection, Auto-fix, Bulk Fix All, hardening defaults. The free tier caps cloud cleanups at three per rolling thirty-day window; Pro lifts that cap. You can install on any existing WordPress site without an account first — the plugin walks you through licensing later if you decide to upgrade.
What you need
- WordPress 6.0 or newer.
- PHP 7.4 or newer (PHP 8.x recommended).
- The site owner’s WordPress login (administrator role).
That’s it. Segurium does not require shell access, a separate agent, or a control-panel module. Hosts where you can install any other plugin can install Segurium.
Install from WordPress.org
Inside your WordPress admin:
- Plugins → Add New.
- In the search field, type
Segurium. The first result is the one with the Segurium author handle and the dark-and-red logo. - Click Install Now, wait for the green progress to finish, then click Activate.
A new top-level menu — Segurium — appears in the WordPress sidebar.
If your host blocks direct plugin installs, download the latest release ZIP from wordpress.org/plugins/segurium/, upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, and activate from there.
Run your first scan
Open Segurium → Scanner. The first thing the page shows is a single New Scan button — click it. Segurium walks the WordPress filesystem, computes the per-file fingerprints it needs, and classifies each file. On most small sites the first scan finishes in well under a minute; on a multi-thousand-file site it runs for a few minutes and you can leave the tab open or come back to it.
When the scan finishes, the Scanner tab shows two lists:
- Threats — files that need attention. Each one has a per-file Clean action.
- Integrity findings — files that are not malware but differ from the canonical version we have on file. Useful for catching silent edits and broken updates.
Click Clean on any threat to fix it. On the free tier this works on up to three files per rolling thirty-day window. Beyond that, the plugin returns a quota-exhausted message and surfaces the upgrade prompt — see Pricing for the Pro service quota.
Activate Pro (optional)
If you bought a Pro license through segurium.com/pricing/ or
through an existing partner, you’ll get a license key by email.
- Open Segurium → Account.
- Paste the license key into the Activate License field.
- Click Sync license and wait for the page to reload.
The Account page now shows the Pro entitlement and the per-site cleanup quota lifts to unbounded. Auto-fix and Bulk Fix All — already in Settings → Scanner since install — now run without hitting the monthly cap.
If a license activation does not propagate within a minute, click Sync license again — the plugin re-fetches the latest license state from the licensing back-end.
Where to go next
- Pricing — Free vs Pro at a glance.
- Features — every capability grouped by what it does for the site owner.
- Blog — short pieces on cleanup patterns and what we see across infected sites.
If something doesn’t work the way this page describes, file a support ticket from inside the plugin (Segurium → Support); the form attaches a small diagnostic bundle so we can debug from the first reply.
